I don't know the date....all I know is that it happened within a mile of the Pleiku Air Base. We were comming under heavy enemy fire. One chopper was dropping flares and the other was giving charlie hell. I turned around to light a cigar and the chopper dropping flares exploded. It was seconds later charlie got the other chopper. They called in napalm to keep us from being over run. I have only one friend that remembers this out of 3 that I have located from my unit. He says it was puff and a chopper that were shot down. I was with A Company 815th Engineers Pleiku Vietnam from April 5, 1968 to April 5 1969. I think it was in the Fall of 68..........I'd like to contact someone from their Unit and tell them of my gratitude for them saving our lives.
