My partner is an Australian who did two tours in Vietnam as a Bird Dog Pilot in the U.S. 9th Air Cavalry.
He has never received his medals, even though he was wounded in action.
He receives no pension or medical assistance. We were told that as he volunteered, he has no rights for either. That only those who were called up were eligible to receive them.
As he lives in Australia, he is not entitled to Australian Veterans assistance either. Can anybody help with this?
I have communicated with the U.S. Consulate in Canberra, but to date have had no reply.
My partners name is Michael Henry Way, had the rank of Lieutenant.
Regards, Chris Pisani
