My husband was injured in Nam in 1967. His dd214 states he received the Purple Heart, however he never received any of the medals he was awarded. Can you tell me how I can followup on these medals. He was awarded them and should atleast receive them. Thank you, Denise Barstow

i had the same problem. i came back from vietnam on the USS New Orleans in the second phase of nixon's troop withdrawal. nothing but a seabag full of new uniforms and orders for cherry point. that was in march 70 and i was discharged in july. i got the good conduct in vietnam, but they pinned it on for a picture and then used the same one for three other marines. they said they only had one. years later my second wife wanted to know about my medals and i told her i never got any. she wrote a letter to congressman armey of texas and i got all of the medals that were on my 214. that was 1990, twenty years after i returned from vietnam. just a letter, that's all it takes to get what you should have gotten at least the day of your discharge. mike lambert, cpl. usmc 66--70

I filled out a request form SF 80 and sent it to Personell Records to enquire about my medals. They sent me a new DD 214 about 6 months later. About a month after that I received a package in the mail from a place in Pa. It contained all the medals that were listed on my DD 214. I didn't ask for them, I was just wanting to know what I was entitled to.
