Dear Mom + Dad
Well here it is 3: o'clock in
the morning and I'm on radio
watch. You wouldn't believe
how dull it gets on this
watch. I go on at 5:30 and
get off at 5:30 in the morning.
Between 5:30 PM and 11:00PM I'm
really keep moving. I have to
get fixed wing requests from
the battalions along with their
reports. Then I have to put
all of these together and send
them to division. Along with
this I ask for a flareship
everynight for 1/7 and handle
med-evac's. This is not to
mention the other aircraft
going through my TAOR (tactical
area of responsibility) that need
clearance. If you don' think
this sounds like a lot you
should try it sometime.
Anyway I'm still trying to
get a transfer. I asked for it
but like everyone else here who
has asked, it was refused. But
I figure that there must be a
sure way of doing it. It's just
that nobody has thought of it
yet. Of course you know me,
I've talked my way in and out
of many things so this is just
another challenge for me. The
way I figure it if I keep
going from outfit to outfit
I'll see almost all of Viet Nam.
I'm going to buy a camera and
take pictures, so that I'll have
a pictorial history of my duty
over here.
By the way I'm sending a
package home with some of my
uniforms and Marty's confirmation
present. There isn't much to buy
over here but I got a pretty good
price from the gooks. I was
reading a magazine the other
day and I saw that Mercury
is bring out a two seater
car in late 65 or with the
1970 models. If they do then I
want Dad to scope out the
price because I'll probably want
to buy one. I wrote a letter
to the person who I left my
records and record player with,
so I'll find out what happened.
If and when they do arrive,
let me know because I have
a list of all of the records with
me. Also the record player will
need to be fixed because it wasn't
working right when I left.
I guess that's about all fo r
now so until then.
Your son,
Clyde
