Serving as a Howitzer Section Chief in Battery B, 6th Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, Sp4 Knott was firing his howitzer in a counter-mortar program against the enemy who was mortaring his position. Soon realizing his weapon was the only one capable of firing, he increased his rate of fire in an attempt to silence the enemy mortars. It was this feat that finally quelled the enemy mortars. SP4 WILSON D. KNOTT B Bty, 6th Bn, 29th Field Artillery (RVN) Awarded the Army Commendation Medal w/"V" November 26, 1967 members.tripod.com/~msg_fisher/cite-12.html
