The Oasis was the standown LZ for my LRRP Platoon. After each mission we came in for a debriefing and 24-48 hours of rest before our next LRRP mission. I recall red dust in the dry season and mud in the wet season. The LRRP area was made up of tents and bunkers. The Oasis had its share of incoming and one major ground assault in May 1969 when NVA battalion pentrated almost to the center of the LZ, remember quite a few GI casulties.
