Samuel R. Veer, s.veer@verizon.net was born on 10/16/49. Served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 69-71. His duty stations were Ft. Campbell Ky., Ft. Polk La.,and the Central Highlands Vietnam. Sam received the Air Medal, Arcom., National Defense, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Vie Civil Action, Viet Service, CIB, Good Conduct, CIB, Meritotious Unit and Presidential Unit Award. He served in the Infantry as a Grunt humping an M-60 machine gun then later was assigned to Mortar Platoon. He left the Army as an E-4. From Freeport Il. he was a graduate of Harlem,/ Douglas, Freeport Jr.& Sr. High in 67. Serve with A Co. 1/12th 1st Cav. Div. Vietnam. Also C Co. mortars. Current Vice Pres.& Life Mem. Freeport Chapter Vietnow. Mem. VFW Post 998, Member Sheridan's Cavalry Chapter 1st Cav. Assoc. Rozelle, Il. Life mem. 1st Cav. Assoc His Brothers are Wm. (Bill) W. Veer U.S. Navy W.W. II, Franklin B. Veer Sr. U.S. Navy W.W. II, Karl M. Veer U.S. Air Force Korea---Vietnam Era, Charles (Bud) E. Veer--Korea /Vietnam. Bud served in the Marines during the Korean War in 1953. Upon separation, he enlisted in the Air Force and did a tour in Vietnam . He retired from there 1969
