BARBARA ROUNDS-KUGLER, born 03/20/40, was a member of the Army Nurse Corps as an RN from 1967 to 2000 (ACTIVE & RESERVE). She served in Vietnam and is disabled. Duty stations included FT. SAM HOUSTON, FITZSIMMONS ARMY HOSPITAL, CHU LAI RVN, and FT. KNOX. She achieved the rank of Colonel and was awared NDSM, VN SERVICE MEDAL, MERITORIOUS UNIT COMMENDATION, ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL. Her hometown is CINCINNATI, OHIO graduating from HUGHES HIGH SCHOOL in 1958 and UC JEWISH HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING in 1963. Barbara SERVED IN CHU LAI WITH SHARON A. LANE AND WAS THERE WHEN SHE WAS Killed in action. SERVED AS BOB HOPE'S WARDROBE MISTRESS WHEN HE APPEARED IN THE AMERICAL DIVISION AMPHITHEATER WITH ANN-MARGARET, CHRISTMAS 1968. ELEANOR ALEXANDER WAS HER COMPANY COMMANDER IN BASIC TRAINING AND SHE WAS KILLED IN A PLANE CRASH IN QUI NHON 11/67. BARBARA is AN OUTSPOKEN VETERANS ADVOCATE AND SHE IS STILL TAKING CARE OF "MY VETS". She is always in demand as a speaker SPECIALLY ON MEMORIAL DAYS, VETERANS DAYS, 4TH OF JULY EVENTS, AND AT ALL LEVELS OF SCHOOLS/UNIVERSITIES. SHE HAS DEDICATED HER LIFE TO SERVING VETERANS IN HONOR OF SHARON AND ELEANOR. SHE DOES A LOT OF WORK WITH VETS WITH PTSD AND THOSE WHO ARE HOMELESS. COLONEL ROUNDS-KUGLER WAS RECENTLY APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR OF OHIO TO THE BOARD OF THE OHIO VETERANS HOME (5 YR TERM) and ALSO SERVES AS THE STATE OF OHIO HOMELESS VETERANS CHAIRMAN FOR THE V.F.W.
