namvet66@stargate.net <namvet66@stargate.net> Arrived in Qui-Nhon in August 1965 with The 117th Trans Co, attached to the 1st Inf Div. Our Company arrived about 2 weeks before the 1st got there. The Sea Bees cleared an area near the airbase and strung some concertina, and that's what we called home. What we didn't know, until later, was that exact spot was where the local Vietnamese took their morning constitutional, in other words....took a shit. Every morning at 0'Dark Thirty they came to the edge of our compound and took a dump at the edge of the wire. The smell, flies, rats, etc. was beyond imagination. I guess it was their way of showing us what they thought of Americans.
