No New Posts KatrinaBoxes.org (Mommy Boxes)

You will list the items here and a victim will contact you by email. INCLUDE PHONE NUMBER or EMAIL in YOUR POSTING.

Distribution of goods to evacuees is a problem. If you donate to a local group sending supplies, you may consider making up a "mommy pack". This can be as small as a tupperware container containing a few items a mom will find useful or something larger, containing everything from diapers to animal crackers and a pillow.

(here's the list):
crayons
paper towels
a pillow
diapers
trail mix
animal crackers
baby wipes
hand lotion
chapstick
toys
toilet paper
ink pens
notebooks
flashlights with batteries and the switch taped "off"
washcloths
"q" tips
baby powder
pretzels
I packed the whole shebang in rubbermaid container and marked it "MOMMY PACK"
The idea is not to make it to large so a mom with kids in tow can grab it and go.

The armored civil action patrols and VC-chasing of the Vietnam era taught the tankers of that time a whole new bag of tank tricks that are in danger of being lost. We learned to do things that are impossible, and this forum is an attempt to transmit that hard-won knowledge to a new generation.

No New Posts Aviation, Medical, and Graves Registration

Getting the casualty and the physician together as soon as possible is the keystone of the practice of combat medicine. In 1965, the Army implemented a new concept called Air Mobility. This new idea for warfare depended on the coordinated use of transport helicopters, gunships and air ambulances to move large numbers of troops by air rather than ground, to insert them and outflank enemy units. Remains were brought to two fixed and well-equipped mortuaries in-country, located at Da Nang in the far north, and in Tan Son Nhut, just outside of Saigon.

The traditional duties of town patrol, base security, POW security had been augmented with armed river patrols, convoy escorts, etc. Many MPs names appear on The Wall in Washington, D.C. The personal bravery and fighting spirit of the guntruck crews, along with their quick reaction to ambush situations, were no doubt responsible for saving the lives of many truckers.
