I'm Pete Watts,I'm a Firefighter in the UK and am extremely interested in connecting with any veterans from the 553rd Engineer Company ( Floating Bridge ) who would be willing to share their experiences. Especially to do with M139 Bridge trucks and the Gun truck variants, I now own an M139 Bridge truck built in 1951 ( gasser ) with a 1960s serial number from the Corp of Engineers. My plan is to mark her up to the 553rd for display at Military and living history events here in the UK, the main show being The War and Peace show in Kent. my email is Pwatts1969@hotmail.co.uk With respect, Pete

My father was in the 553rd 1965-66. He would love to know how to contact anyone who was. There was a Sgt. Bower(Bauer)?, Douglas Dennis and a few more. He came out of Fort Campbell, he was an E4. His name is Paul Roger Phillips, his birthplace was Virginia. If anyone would like to e-mail or give more information on how I might be able to reach anyone he might have known I would really appreciate it. My name is Dawn and my e-mail is dphil67898@aol.com

I was in 553rd at DBT, 4th platoon. ROAD RUNNERS from July 1970 to June 1971. Served on gun truck starting with Jim Blankenship as the driver. As he said saw a lot of country on convoys to different places. Keep looking for brothers who served at same time. You tube has a video on gun trucks of Vietnam which does show a picture of the gun truck after a fresh paint job. Oh yes we did build a bridge on a river after moving to Phan Rang airbase.
