I recall back in 68, the team was moving through a jungle area, Northwest in the highlands on a typical Sneak & Peek. Always on alert, we moved for hours before we were able to finally stop and rest. This was right before sundown. Tired, dirty and wet from moisture none of the team members were in the mood for anything. Yes, flankers were sent out for protection and everyone remained alert. About ten minutes into the rest period, we heard some serious movement coming our way. Everyone got into battle positions and were awaiting the onslaught. Finally, one of the guys got carried away by letting his imagination get the best of him and started shooting in the direction of the movement. All of a sudden, everyone was firing in that direction. Oddly, no return fire was received. We all heard screams and yells, yet, no one saw anyone. After M79's were fired during the so called firefight, we cautiously inched our way forward. Upon arriving at the site where the enemy was suppose to be, we started to find these miniture hands and what appeared to be clumps of hair. Well, as bad as I hate to admit this, we had fired upon and destroyed a tribe of monkeys. That was a night to remember, on returning to camp, no one spoke of the matter unless it was among ourselves..Lol, things happen :0)

Talk about some surreal "fecal matter". I bet that scene will haunt your dreams for decades to come. It gave me shivers!
