Dear Mom + Dad
I recieved the package with the ice
tea and have already started to drink it.
It seems like everyone is always wanting
a drink of it. I recieved your letter and
don't agree with you about my staying
on this hill. If I stay here much
longer I'll go crazy. What I'm trying to
do is to get into a company where I'll
be the radio chief. Believe me there are
plenty of places where they need someone
to run their communications. Anyway I
just realized that I have almost two years
in now. It's hard to believe that I'm al-
most half way. When I get back from
Nam I'll have about 14 months left. Of
course I'll have to start thinking about
colledge at that time.
Anyway what's happening at home?
Since it's getting close to summer I guess
that everyone is making plans for this
summer. Lately I've been thinking about
the old house and all of the years
I lived there. Sometimes I wish I
could turn back the time just to relive
those days. Then of course I look around
and see the artillery, tanks, maching guns,
mortars people carrying rifles and the aircraft
flying over head. The I think to myself
and say "It sure isn't like the movies you
used to watch when you were little." Yeah,
I really have to hand it to the motion
picture industry. They can make war
look real nice and then when you
old enough, a real war comes along and
you have to laugh at what you believed as
a kid. Actually the funny part of it all is
that some of the books like "Battle Cry" are
supposed to be funny (I finally
spelled it) and yet reveal some of the horror
of war. In my instances many similarities
show up that I notice between the book
and real life. I don't know, maybe the
crazy world is just a figment of some
ones imagination. Well I'll see you
later.
Your son,
Clyde
