Karl L Polifka was born 1 Dec 1910 and died 1 July 1951 at the age of 40 in Kaesong, Korea. Karl is buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, CA. While with the Air Force, he served in WW2 and The Korean War. He entered the military in 1937 and was Killed In Action in 1951. His duty stations included Moffett Field, CA; Ft. Lewis, WA; March Field, CA; New Guinea; Peterson Field, CO; La Marsa, Tunisia; San Severo, Italy; Buckley Field, CO; Pentagon; Maxwell AFB, AL; Rapid City AFB, SD; and Korea. As a pilot, Karl attained the rank of Colonel and was awarded the DSC, SS w/olc, LOM w/olc, DFC, AM, PH, and Croix de Guerre. His hometown was Watsonville, CA where he graduated from Watsonville H.S. in 1929.
