I'm Mike Finnegan, I was in 553rd in Pleiku, most of 1970, Engineer Hill. Drove a 5 ton bridge truck that was converted to a gun truck for escort. They took the tracks off a APC and it fit like a lego on the bed of my truck, cabled it down and off we went. Carried one 50 cal, two M-60 cal and a M79 grenade launcher off the back. Plus our M16s. Went on the Cambodian invasion in May of 1970, got back and heard about the Kent State shootings. I knew a ton of guys at Kent State at the time, kind of shook me up. I think we were assigned to the 4th Infantry Division.

My father in law John was in the 553rd Combat Engineer (Float Bridge) 1966-1971. I'm making him a birthday gift of the unit crest for his tiki bar wall. I'm looking for advice on anything extra I could add to it. Please email me at christy.stypick@outlook.com Thanks.
